Spring 2014 Ready to Wear

Prabal Gurung Review

As the lights shined a glass block was prevalent, it appeared to be covered in plastic wrap. Inside this space were the models; the idea behind this enclosure was the preservation of a woman’s elegance. The show was inspired by the ‘50s and Marylyn Monroe herself! The hues of the ensembles were combinations of pastels and vibrant fluorescents. A wide variety of the prints ranged from the space age to touches of abstract florals. Overall, the atmosphere gave off a retro and futuristic sense.

The looks included sweetheart necklines and rose appliqué tops paired with midi pencil skirts, and even PVC raincoats. I will do whatever it takes to get the PVC skirt, if I do say so myself. This is a most in all closets!

As the presenataion contuined my mind replayed a series of "gimmes" and "I need NOW's." While this continued, I had a peculiar thought: something was off. I could not decipher what that something was. After, (the show had only been watched a multitude of times) , I figured it out. I stumbled upon the idea that the beginning of the show was very reminiscent of Prada; the sunglasses especially! The Prabal we all know and love finally appeared, with his classic florals. But yet again, it seems as if Mr. Gurung has taken much inspiration from the Dior house this time. Regardless, I give the collection an A+, very pleased overall!

Spring Trend Alert

Monocromatic with a 60s twist:

Moschino Spring 2013
Louis Vutiion Spring 2013
The trend of black and white was so dominant. Ladies are favorite colors are everything this season. Black and white is such a bold and contrasting color palate. Espiceally when a geometric print and textures are added to the look. Many of the geometric prints were 60s mod inspired. This was quite eye grasping, it adds to any simple look. The trend can be simply sophisticated, yet also turned into a base for an accessorized outfit. A way to recreate the 60s mod is using a black and white shift dress; it is so glamorous and classic, which makes room for any seasons to come.

One way to sport this trend is including the beautiful Tibi Sleeveless Dropped Waist Dress. Another affordable alternative which is very Louis Vuitton inspired, is a checkered back and white shift dress.   Which totals a whopping $55 which is a major steal!

These are going to be so perfect for the spring with the comeback of the stripe craze. These babies are from last season, but I couldn't resist sharing them with my favorite people, even better ladies there on The Outnet which means an insane discount! They are only 320, the ornigal tag beaming with 800! Say what, I know! It's a steal I can't pass it up, I'm done! Gimme gimme gimme!

Interview with the Lovely Marija Dimeski

Marija is a prominent and aspiring photographer her dream-like photos, grasp the eye. She has a sharp sense of fashion which kindles her astounding work; she has made a name for herself in the industry. We bonded over our obsession of fashion! I always take advantage when I begin talking to someone who is an avid fashionista, it makes me so effervescent!

FD: How long have you been into photography?
MD: I started taking pictures when I was 14, when I got a little digital camera and I got my DSLR when I was 16. And I just taught myself pretty much and I just played around with it. I guess from there I developed my own style.

FD: How did you get involved?
MD:  I joined flickr on the Internet and was looking up others people pictures and trying to see what I liked.  I was mostly drawn towards fashion. And I met my friend Natalie who is also a fashion photographer and she really inspired a lot of what I wanted to do. And from her I meet other people too who are also in photography.

FD: What type of subjects do you like to shoot?
MD: Portraits, for sure!

FD: Do you prefer digital or film photography?
MD: Digital!

FD: Can you describe some of your favorite pieces?
MD: My first photo-shoot, I ever did that was actually set up, and people helped me with it , its probably my favorite one. It's the one I have gotten a lot of awards for. But I still love all of the other things I've done.

FD: I've heard you've had work in Vogue Italia, how did that come about and how did you feel about it?
MD: Well its not in Vogue already. But Vogue Italia has something called PhotoVogue and you can submit your pictures through it. They have to go through this process and they can get confirmed. Their agency is called Art and Commerce, for young, emerging artists and mine got admitted to it. Now I have a portfolio with them and I just have to keep adding my photos to it. And it can be licensed through Art and Commerce.

FD: Have you shown your work anywhere else?
MD: It's been in a couple of galleries and its in an online gallery now, its in Paris called L'affiche Moderne

FD: Can you purchase them?
MD: Yes, I've sold four prints.

FD: Is there anything your currently working on?
MD: I'm trying to get and start developing my photo-shoots more so they have more meanings behind them. So I'm trying to work with that and find more people who would want to model for me. I have a photo shoot coming up where I want to do something with the snow with really light colored dresses

FD: Where do you see photography taking you?
MD: I wanna go into film so I think my help with photography now has helped me develop my style. If I was going to go into film I would have a good background instead of cinematography ( which is the imaging effects of how you take pictures). Ultimately I do want to go into film.

FD: Describe your style.
MD: Its pretty dreamlike, it has kinda of a morbidness behind it, I think. It involves my sister who's younger and I think the theme with younger children and more developed ideas is darker.

FD: How does your style influence your pictures?
MD: I think it makes it more recognizable if someone was to look at it I think a lot of my pictures  flow together because its more of a constant theme with similarity, woven amongst them.

FD: Can you describe your style in fashion?
MD: I love grunge. I love the 90s, early 70s too. But I also like stuff from the 1800s old dresses. I love fashion so much.

If you have came this far, please take the time to view more of her lovely meaningful work!

Can a sweatshirt be chic?

Yes why of course my darlings! Especially when its a Christopher Kane, can it get better than that, I don't think so! I love the base blue flower on the center! I'm sure if this is going to be a working out ensemble, you will be the chicest woman in the entire gym. Exercising not even required because its just that great!
Till next time,
XX (stay lovely)

Chanel Pre-Fall 2013

The show was Spectacular! Karl Lagerfeld did an amazing job, with the collection! It was something different! I was a bit disappointed as to the spring 2013 show, because of the dominating denim! I don't have a preference to denim. I have an affinity to chiffon and wools. The tweeds, knits, and sweaters screamed a Northern European, Scottish inspiration. I loved the men's wear still incorporated into the collection. The colors from the knits were classic kilt colors, reds lined with black. Also the pops of argyle on the stockings with the mix of plaid, produced an enchanting ensemble. I'm a huge fan of mixing prints, and glad it's continuing into next fall, it gives me an excuse to wear my stripes and polka dots more than I need to!
